is steadily researching and developing a VR-based medical rehabilitation treatment solution through cooperating with medical experts, and particularly has developed and is providing the VR-based vestibular rehabilitation exercise serving as a dizziness rehabilitation treatment to patients who suffer from dizziness.

Cause of Dizziness

- Central dizziness : It is caused when the central nervous system, including brain, is abnormal.
In most cases, it involves a severe disease requiring emergency treatment such as cerebral infarction, cerebral hemorrhage and brain tumor.

- Peripheral dizziness : It is caused when the 세발코리관 and vestibular nerve serving as the peripheral vestibular system are abnormal.
It includes benign paroxysmal positional dizziness, vestibular neuritis and Meniere disease.

Treatment of Dizziness

- Drug therapy : The purpose is to alleviate the symptoms of dizziness and to prevent the exacerbation of symptoms of Meniere disease and migrainous dizziness.

- Physical therapy : It is a method used to remove otoliths from patients with benign paroxysmal positional dizziness through cupulolith repositioning maneuver.

- Rehabilitation therapy : It is a method used to compensate the reduced equilibrium function by conducting exercises that stimulate the vision, sense of balance and sense of body that are critical to maintaining body equilibrium.
Learning the exercises through ambulatory care and repeatedly conducting the learned exercises at home are important.
By applying an adequate therapy method based on the diagnosis, most patients with dizziness are able to confidently continue their everyday life without being dependent on drugs.

Vestibular rehabilitation exercise contents

- Vestibular rehabilitation exercise contents consist of eye movement exercise, head and eye movement exercise, and tourist mode exercise. When selecting the involved content on the Main UI, run the VR mode to enable it in the HMD environment.

1. Eye movement exercise - The eye movement exercise consists of a virtual indoor apartment environment and a virtual square environment. 1 set consists of 3 exercises(saccadic eye movement exercise, smooth pursuit eye movement exercise and 1X movement exercise) and 5 sets complete 1 cycle.

Classification of Exercise Description
Saccadic eye movement exercise - With head fixed, moving eyes only to focus on objects appearing from the left and right sides
- Training time : 20 seconds
- Horizontal field of view : 35 degrees
- Vertical field of view : 25 degrees
Smooth pursuit eye movement exercise - With head fixed, moving eyes only to view a moving object.
- Training time : 40 seconds
- Horizontal field of view : 35 degrees
- Vertical field of view : 25 degrees
- Object moving time : 2 seconds (vertically and horizontally)
1X exercise - With eyes fixed, moving head vertically and horizontally to view a fixed object.
- Training time : 40 seconds
- Horizontal field of view : 35 degrees
- Vertical field of view : 25 degrees
- Object display time : 2 seconds

*When HMD is in use, the warnings and exercise procedures will be provided prior to exercise.

  • Indoor apartment

    - A virtual indoor apartment is modeled and applied, and the surrounding objects are minimized to establish an easy exercise level that allow the user to focus on the target object.

  • Square

    - This environment demonstrates a more difficult level compared to the indoor apartment environment. Diverse objects are arranged within the virtual square and special effects are applied to increase the level of difficulty during the exercise.

2. Head and eye movement exercise - - The head and eye movement exercise is a functional content that adds fun factors to the vestibular rehabilitation exercise. It consists of an object moving exercise that uses a virtual supermarket environment as the background and of an exercise that uses a virtual outdoor apartment as the background.

- Maximum training time : 4 minutes
- No. objects : 12 objects
- Gaze fixation time : 2 seconds
Apartment road - Riding a bicycle and removing objects appearing on the upper left, lower left, upper right and lower right sides by staring at them for 2 seconds
- Training time : 40 seconds
- No. of objects : 4 objects(3 hot-air balloons and 1 ball)
- No. of event objects : 30 objects
- Points per successfully removed object : 5 points per object

    - Moving products flickering in read on the left display stand to the location displayed in blue on the right side
    - To be played for 4 minutes (10 products)
    - Targeting and staring at a product randomly(or can be set) displayed in red(red boundary) for 2 seconds will change the color
    - Staring at the space or product in blue for 2 seconds will change the product with another one
    - The stage must be cleared within 20 seconds, and you will fail once the products disappear from your sight. When you fail, you will have to start over and the next random product will be displayed in red
    - The total number of cleared products will be displayed at the end

  • Apartment road contents

    - Automatic driving will be performed from the start point to the finish point(training time is 3~4 minutes.)
    - The targeting pointer will be provided at the center(a period or cross shape)
    - Objects will appear randomly during automatic driving(the total number of objects is 10, and 1 object will appear at intervals of 20 seconds)
    - The objects consist of bicycles, soccer balls, basketballs, birds, etc.
    - When the pedestrian arrives at a certain point, the objects will appear unexpectedly at a certain distance away from the road.
    - The objects are manufactured to be clearly confirmed through the use of red boundaries, etc.
    - The objects will disappear when stared at for 2 seconds
    - When you arrive at the finish point, the number of successfully removed objects will be displayed

3. Otolith displacement exercise

  • - Development of video contents using Brandt Daroff exercise and left/right Semont exercise
    - A translucent person’s back silhouette(object, 2D image) appearing in front induces the user to easily follow the motions
    - The video induces the HMD user’s actual motions to match the standard motions demonstrated in the video
